Exchange programme in the field of the sustainable use of aquatic biodiversity
Aims for international exchange programme
- Development of shared curricula between the European and Canadian partners
- Inter-disciplinary approach integrating biology, ecology, water chemistry, fisheries and aquaculture.
- Facilitated by ECTS and Canadian mutual accreditation transfers and online language preparation
- 50 student 12-week exchanges over its 3-year duration
What was achieved
- New joint curriculum agreed (lectures, laboratory and field courses, and work experience at companies, government laboratories and research institutes.)
- Network of international partner universities
- Memoranda of Understanding (MOU) drawn up between universities
- No tuition fees for visiting students
- Creation of project website www.biodaqua.org, with full details of all partner universities
- Online student info, language modules, orientation booklets
- 56 successful student exchanges which produced 6 MSc and 2 PhD theses, + 20 online student reports
