Margaret Eleftheriou has co-authored a paper along with Annie Heral, entitled

The Promotion of Language Learning and Linguistic Diversity through the aquatic sciences ERASMUS network.

The paper is the first to appear online in the Special Issue of the Springer journal AQUACULTURE INTERNATIONAL.The article is available as 'Online First' on SpringerLink:

Annie Heral, a language teacher based in Bourcefranc-le-Chapus, France has been involved for several years in the PESCALEX Concept and is the author of the PESCALEX Language Game.

The European Skills/Competences, qualifications and Occupations (ESCO), an EU 2020 initiative with very important implications for the fisheries and aquaculture sectors, continued its work on defining the occupations and job profiles of the Agriculture, Forestry, Fisheries and Aquaculture industries. M. Eleftheriou’s participation leans heavily on previous work carried out by AMC Ltd  on occupational profiles in aquaculture in the WAVE and VALLA projects.

January 28-30 2014

The kick-off meeting of the EU project DIVERSIFY (www. (Enhancing the European aquaculture production by removing production bottlenecks of emerging species, producing new products and accessing new markets) was held in the Crete premises of the Coordinator, the Department of Aquaculture of the Institute for Marine Biology, Biotechnology and Aquaculture (IMBBC). To mark the occasion, Prof. Eleftheriou donated hard copies of the AQUALEX glossaries to all participants.


Steering Group, January 2013

A meeting of the Aqua-tnet Steering Committee took place on 13-14th January 2014 in Amsterdam. Agenda topics included progress on project deliverables, plans for the annual meeting scheduled for June 2014, and strategies for ensuring the sustainability of the network and activities beyond the current EU LLP Erasmus funding.

AMC Director M. Eleftheriou attanded the AQUA-TNET meeting which was concerned with the planning of the ICT workshop being held as part of the AQUA-TNET Annual Event to be held in Malta in June.  

The final annual meeting of the Aqua-tnet III project is planned for  26-27th June in Malta. This will be immediately preceded by a two-day digital skills workshop to help participants adopt some of the latest ICT tools in their teaching (24-25th June). Further information will be available shortly.


September 2013: AQUATNET Workpackage 5 members meet in Frankfurt

Members of the working group on innovation in lifelong learning (workpackage 5) met at the NH Airport Hotel in Frankfurt on 16-17th September 2013 to drive forward plans for project workshops and publications. They were also joined by representatives from workpackages 1, 2 and 6 to work on cross-workpackage issues such as the use of innovative learning approaches in PhD level training.
